B't X TV Anime's English Dub Cast, Trailer Unveiled

Dallas-based anime licensing company Anime Midstream, Inc. announced on Friday that its DVD release of the B't X television anime series is slated for August 3. SoundCadence Studios announced that it is recording the English dub for the release, and revealed the cast along with a dub trailer.

Anime Midstream first announced that it had licensed the series in 2016.

The company describes the anime:

Teppei Takamiya is an average boy that lives on Kamui Island, north of Japan. His older brother, Kotaro Takamiya, leaves to study robotics in Germany and becomes one of the most brilliant scientists in the world. Five years later, the two brothers reunite at a robotics convention where Kotaro announced his latest breakthrough in artificial intelligence. During the convention, Kotaro is captured and taken to The Area, the center of the Machine Empire. Equipped with the Messiah Fist, a gauntlet with various technological powers and options, Teppei pursues his brothers kidnappers.
Upon reaching The Area, Teppei is attacked by Metalface and is thrown, bleeding into the Machine Empire's junkyard. His blood reaches the trashed body of X and the B't awakens. Faced with unanswered questions and imminent destruction, X saves Teppei and the pair flee The Area with soldiers of the Machine Empire in hot pursuit. As the series continues, X and Teppei develop a brotherly bond, arguing as much as they look after each other. They uncover the Machine Empire's plan as they travel and battle other B'ts loyal to the Machine Empire, while trying to save Kotaro.

The 25-episode series originally aired in 1996. Mamoru Hamatsu (Lupin III: Return of Pycal, Glass Mask, Legendary Armor Samurai Troopers) directed the series at TMS Entertainment and also handled the series composition.

The series is based on a manga of the same name by Masami Kurumada (Saint Seiya). Tokyopop released the entire 16-volume series between 2004-2010 in North America before shutting down its North American publishing division. The manga also inspired a 14-episode OVA series titled B't X Neo that shipped in 1997-1998.

Illumitoon Entertainment previously released part of the television anime series in two DVD volumes with English subtitles and an English dub in 2007, but the company then cancelled the remaining DVD releases. Anime Midstream didn't clarify if it is redubbing the series or if it is using Illumitoon Entertainment's previously recorded dub.

Anime Midstream previously released the Matchless Raijin-Oh robot anime series on DVD. The company released the first half of the series between 2010-2013 with both English subtitles and an English dub, but then released the second half of the series as a subtitle-only release in September 2014.
