Detective Conan Film Craze Kicks Up With Escape Room, Crime Investigation Experience, Prize Lottery

SCRAP's Real Escape Game revealed this year's Detective Conan-themed experience as "Project Zero kara no Dasshutsu" (Escape From Project Zero). The game will debut at Himitsu Kichi of SCRAP in Harajuku, Tokyo on June 26 and run in a total of 32 cities throughout Japan.
The collaboration escape rooms have been held every year since 2013, and this year's marks the release of Meitantei Conan: Zero no Shikkōnin (Detective Conan: Zero's Executioner), the 22nd film in the Detective Conan series. Like the anime, Tōru Amuro stars in the experience with Conan. At Amuro's recommendation, players participate in a top-secret test called "Project Zero." While cooperating with Conan and Amuro, players have to deactivate bombs set at the place the test is being carried out.
In the Real Escape Game's story, Amuro goes by the name "Zero" as part of the Public Security Police, which is also known as Japan's CIA. The organization is aiming to increase the number of ordinary people it works with, and it seeks out high-caliber candidates through Project Zero. As the final test begins, someone takes over the testing grounds. Fake bombs are replaced by real ones, and a countdown begins. If participants fail to clear the test, the real bombs will go off, and not much time is left. The test requires three skills: insight to see past trivial uncomfortable feelings, reason to deduce the correct answer from limited information, and a certain ability that is most important for public security.
For the challenge, groups of six players must deactivate all the bombs within 60 minutes. The experience will be the first Real Escape Game to utilize a new system that will reveal participants' individual results in addition to a group's success or failure. Development of the new system that will reveal a person's aptitude to perform public security duties is planned.
After debuting in Tokyo, the experience will continue to run at various locations in Japan through December. Special advance "Top-Secret Mission Tickets" will include a "Project Zero Deluxe USB Memory" stick that will offer a personal experience of the story of the Real Escape Game. The first advance tickets will go on sale for Detective Boys SCRAP members on April 28, and regular ticket sales will begin on May 25.
Additionally, the "Meitantei Conan Kagaku Sōsa-ten ~Shinjitsu e no Abduction~" (Detective Conan Scientific Crime Investigation: Abduction Toward the Truth) exhibition opened in the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation in Tokyo on Wednesday.
The immersive experience has an original story and features three areas: the "On-Site Inspection Area" where people can collect evidence, the "Information-Gathering Area" where people can get more information from characters, and the "Lab Area" where people can use technology to analyze clues. The "Information-Gathering Area" recreates locations such as Kogorō's office and Café Poirot, which Amuro works part-time at.
In order to clear Kogorō Mōri's name as a suspect in a murder case, participants have a "Detective Notebook" to guide them through the experience. Two courses of the experience are available, with a Conan and Amuro version that records evidence and narrows down suspects, and a Conan and Ran version focused on gathering clues to clear Kogorō's name. For an additional fee, "Special Voice Machines" let participants listen to Conan, Amuro, and Ran as they investigate the case.
The exhibition offers photo spots and a goods shop with exclusive merchandise. People who purchase the event's limited-edition guidebook receive a special mini signed paper board with character illustrations by Gōshō Aoyama.
A special event for the exhibit was held on Tuesday. Conan himself and the comedy duo Ginshari made appearances.
The event will conclude in Tokyo on July 8 and run at Nagoya City Science Museum from July 14 to September 24. The experience is also planned to run at Fukuoka City Museum from November 2018 to January 2019.
As another part of the celebration for the new anime film, 7-Eleven stores in Japan began offering the "Sega Lucky Kuji Detective Conan: Zero Collection" prize lottery on Wednesday. One attempt at the lottery costs 500 yen (about US$5).
Due to the release of Detective Conan: Zero's Executioner, the prize line focuses on Amuro and showcases various characters as they appear in the film. The lottery offers 12 levels of prizes. The top prizes are framed art, and other items include bath towels, acrylic stands, rubber straps, and plushes.

The Last One Prize and Double Lucky Prize, which is available by using a serial code on prize tickets, are special signed framed illustrations.
The Detective Conan: Zero's Executioner anime film opened in Japan on Friday and debuted at #1 at the box office.
