Girls & Panzer Franchise's Live-Action Promotional Video Streamed

"SEN-SHA" dance music video shows high school girls washing tank

An official website for the live-action promotional video for the Girls und Panzer franchise opened on Tuesday and began streaming the video. The concept of the dance music video titled "SEN-SHA" is a pun on the Japanese words for "car washing" and "tank," which have the same pronunciation. Official Girls und Panzer ambassador and pro wrestler Masahiro Chōno appears in the video.

The website also began streaming a "making documentary" video for the music video.

Aimi Mōri, Mikako Kasai, Ayami Sema, Rion Okamoto, and Hazuki Tanda are the main dancers in the video. Yūji Hariu directed the video, and s**t kingz choreographed the dance. New Zealand-based special effects and prop company Weta Workshop produced the full-size Panzer IV tank prop.

The franchise's staff revealed the live-action promotional video project in October. The video's website promotes the franchise's upcoming anime film.

The anime franchise is getting a six-film "finale" project titled Girls und Panzer das Finale. The first of the six episodes will open in 59 Japanese theaters on December 9.

The project will also have immersive 4DX and MX4D screenings, after the second episode in the Finale anime project ends its initial run of regular screenings. Each of the immersive screenings will combine two episodes; the first ones will combine the first and second episodes. The next set of immersive screenings will combine the third and fourth episodes, and the last set will combine the fifth and sixth episodes.

The Girls und Panzer der Film anime opened in November 21, 2015, and continued playing in theaters for over a full year. The film shipped on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in Japan in May 2016, and the release came with a new OVA that takes place after the events of the movie, as well as an episode of the "Akiyama Yukari no Sensha Kōza" (Yukari Akiyama's Tank Lecture) shorts. The film will air in Japan on various channels on November 23 and December 2.

Sentai Filmworks licensed the 2015 film, and the company collaborated with Eleven Arts to release the film theatrically in the United States in November 2016 with an English dub. Sentai Filmworks released the film on home video on May 16.

The original television anime series aired for 12 episodes in 2012-2013. Sentai Filmworks released the series on home video.

The franchise also includes the upcoming Girls und Panzer Dream Tank Match PlayStation 4 game. Bandai Namco Entertainment will ship the game in Japan and in Southeast Asia (with English text) this winter.
