Eiga Sai Film Screenings in 2 Davao Venues Postponed

Abreeza Mall Cinema, FDCP Cinematheque-Davao screenings postponed until further notice

The Japan Foundation, Manila announced on Tuesday that the film screenings at the Abreeza Mall Cinema and FDCP Cinematheque-Davao in Davao City for this year's Eiga Sai Japanese Film Festival are postponed until further notice. The institution did not reveal the reason for the postponement.

The film festival began on July 1, and will end on August 29, with film screenings in Manila, Baguio, Davao, Cebu, and Iloilo.

The festival features the Philippine premiere of the two live-action Chihayafuru films, The Anthem of the Heart anime film, the live-action Bakuman. film, and Sadako vs. Kayako. The Japan Foundation, Manila announced in May that it will screen The Anthem of the Heart at the festival.

The company also hosted a screening of Sunao Katabuchi's In This Corner of the World anime film with a "special talk" on July 1. The film opened in the Philippines three days earlier on June 28.

  • The Magnificent Nine (Tono, Risoku de Gosaru!)
  • Her Love Boils Bathwater (Yu o Wakasu Hodo Atsui Ai)
  • The Sting of Death (Shi no Ibara)
  • Memories of You (Love Story o Kimi ni)
  • If Cats Disappeared From the World (Sekai kara Neko ga Kieta Nara)
  • What a Wonderful Family! (Kazoku wa Tsurai yo)
  • Creepy (Creepy - Itsuwari no Rinjin)
  • Sweet Bean (An)
  • The Mohican Comes Home (Mohican Kokyō ni Kaeru)
  • The Long Excuse (Nagai Iiwake)

All films will be shown with English subtitles. The festival will also screen three films with Filipino dubs, including Sadako vs. Kayako, If Cats Disappeared From the World (Sekai kara Neko ga Kieta Nara), and Bakuman..

The Japan Foundation, Manila holds the Eiga Sai Japanese Film Festival every year in celebration of Philippines-Japan Friendship Month in July.
