Attack on Titan Stage Play Cancelled

The official website for the Attack on Titan stage play announced on Thursday that the staff has cancelled the play's production. The staff decided to cancel the play after 38-year-old acrobat Kazutaka Yoshino passed away on Monday due to an accident. Yoshino was on the main staff for the upcoming play, and was credited as an acrobat for the production.

According to authorities, Yoshino fell 10 meters (about 30 feet) from the fifth to second floor of the Maihama Ampitheater in Chiba, located inside the Tokyo Disney Resort, on Monday afternoon. Yoshino was inspecting the equipment for wire action sequences and suspended himself in mid-air using the equipment. When he fell, emergency services were notified. He suffered a cardiopulmonary arrest and was pronounced dead when he arrived in the hospital.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident. The play's official website stated that the staff are extensively cooperating with police in the investigation.

The staff stated that Yoshino was irreplaceable to the production company, and they judged that moving forward with the production would be difficult, and so they decided to cancel the production. The staff expressed their condolences and apologized to fans.

The Attack on Titan stage play was scheduled for a long run of 55 performances, from July 28 to September 3, at the Maihama Amphitheater. The official website for the play will reveal details on April 21 about refunding those who already purchased tickets for the production.
