Akiko Higashimura's Tokyo Tarareba Girls Manga Ends on April 25

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Story of woman in her 30s seeking marriage debuted in 2014

Akiko Higashimura revealed on her official Twitter account on Tuesday that she will end her Tokyo Tarareba Girls (Tokyo Tarareba Musume) manga in the next issue of Kodansha's Kiss magazine on April 25.

Kodansha Comics is releasing the manga digitally in English, and it describes the story:

"I spent all my time wondering 'What if?' Then one day I woke up and I was 33."

Rinko doesn't think she's that bad-looking, but before she knew it, she was thirtysomething and single. Now she wants to get married by the time the Tokyo Olympics rolls around in six years, but … that might be easier said than done!

Higashimura (Princess Jellyfish) launched the series in Kiss in March 2014. Kodansha published the seventh compiled book volume on January 7, and it will ship the eighth volume on April 13. The series is nominated for "Best General Manga" at this year's 41st Annual Kodansha Manga Awards, and it was nominated in the same category last year. The manga ranked #11 on the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! list of best manga for female readers in 2017, and it ranked #2 on the list in 2016. Da Vinci magazine ranked the series #19 on its "Book of the Year" list last year.

The manga series inspired a live-action television series that premiered on January 18 and ended on March 22.
