Toyota C-HR's Akira, Fist of the North Star, Street Fighter II Videos Streamed
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Toyota's C-HR crossover SUV is collaborating with Katsuhiro Ōtomo's Akira manga, Tetsuo Hara's Fist of the North Star manga, CAPCOM's Street Fighter II game, and Takara Tomy's Tomica toy cars for a "Crossover the World" campaign. Toyota began streaming a 75-second promotional video for the collaboration on Friday.
The video's story is set in Otomo's "Neo Tokyo 2017 Version," inspired by the setting of his Akira manga. A boy plays with a Tomica version of the C-HR in the "toy world," before the vehicle falls into the "game world" of Street Fighter II. Similar to Fist of the North Star, destruction and pillaging are rampant in the "manga world" the video depicts.
The collaboration's official website is also streaming videos that highlight the Fist of the North Star, Street Fighter II, and Tomica parts of the project.
Toyota has previously had its vehicles appear in the worlds of Initial D, Dragon Quest, Gundam, and Final Fantasy.
