Gintama, Isobe Isobee Monogatari Manga Have Announcements on October 31

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

This year's 47th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is revealing on Monday that Hideaki Sorachi's Gintama manga will have a "big announcement" and Ryō Nakama's Isobe Isobee Monogatari ~Ukiyo wa Tsurai yo~ (Chronicle of Isobe -The Life Is Hard-) manga will have an "important announcement" in the magazine's 48th issue, which will ship on October 31. The 47th issue added that the announcement for Isobe Isobee Monogatari ~Ukiyo wa Tsurai yo~ will not be for an anime or a stage play, and will commemorate the manga's third anniversary.

Weekly Shonen Jump had announced last month that Gintama is getting a new television anime series. The manga is also inspiring a live-action film adaptation starring Shun Oguri, and directed by Yūichi Fukuda (live-action HK/Hentai Kamen, Mr. Nietzsche in the Convenience Store). The film opens in Japan in 2017. The original manga entered its final arc in July.

This year's Jump Special Anime Festa screening event will screen the entirety of the Isobe Isobee Monogatari ~Ukiyo wa Tsurai yo~ "mame anime" series and will also feature a "special video" for the franchise. "Mame anime" (bean anime) or "manime" for short is a short anime of about 30 seconds in length. The series premiered online last December, and received more episodes in April.
