MacrossWorld Convention 2016 Welcomes 'Macross' Voice Actress Run Sasaki As Guest Of Honor

Los Angeles, CA (September 8th, 2016) – MacrossWorld Convention 2016 announces the return of Run Sasaki as a Guest of Honor. Known for her roles including Vanessa in the original "Super Dimension Fortress Macross" TV series, “Mimsy” in “Super Dimension Century Orguss”, and Alfin in “Crusher Joe”, Ms. Sasaki will join this year's convention for a panel and meet & greet.

Born in Tokyo and raised in Fukushima, Run (pronounced "rune") graduated from Hosei University with an English Literature Major. In 1976, she received the annual Grand Prix award for the "Amateur radio personality Contest" hosted by "Victor & Bunka Radio Broadcast".

The doors to the professional world of voice acting were opened after receiving a special honors award in an amateur voice acting contest by Nippon Broadcasting System, Inc. In 1983, she became well-known in the voice acting profession for her performance as the heroine, "Alfin", from the famous anime film, "Crusher Joe", in addition to her roles in “Orguss”, “Macross”, "Ginga Hyōryū Vifam", "Aura Battler Dunbine", " Brain Powered " and "Mobile Fighter G Gundam". She also played the heroine in "Kowloon's GATE" for PlayStation.

In the year 2000, Run moved to America with her family. For 15 years, she did voice-overs for both English and Japanese works in Seattle with Microsoft, Nintendo, Nikon Getty Images etc. Team Dream Catchers, which was established by Run, is considered to be one of the foremost popular stage performing groups in the U.S. at anime conventions, at Sakuracon in Seattle. In 2007, she established professional Japanese and English voice training classes and is sharing her talents in the game and narration field.

Crusher Joe” will be released on Blu-ray in Japan on December 4th, and Ms. Sasaki will be presenting the trailer at MWCon. The celebrated 1983 Science Fiction film, based on the light novels by Studio Nue co-founder Haruka Takachiho, has been enjoying renewed interest in recent years. The film's staff also included Yasuhiko Yoshikazu (Gundam) as character designer, and Shōji Kawamori (Macross) as mechanical designer.

MacrossWorld Convention 2016 will be held at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center in Torrance, California on Saturday October 15th. Scheduled activities and attractions include the “Macross Idol” cosplay and performance contest, a cosplay gathering, a toy and model customizing competition, dealer's room and anime-themed food truck Okamoto Kitchen.
