Re:Zero PS4/Vita Game's Story Details, Screenshots Unveiled

Game will have eight different endings for heroines

Kadokawa's Famitsu.com website revealed story details and screenshots for 5pb. Games' Re: Zero Kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu -Death or Kiss (Re: Life in a different world from zero -Death or Kiss-) adventure game on Tuesday.

The game will have an original story, taking place before the royal election at an event called the "Beauty Queen Election." It involves the royal election candidates in a beauty contest, where the winner will receive Metia, a treasure that is said to bring fortune. By circumstance, Subaru happens to kiss the prize, which curses him to die unless he receives a "heartfelt kiss" that will break it. Subaru interferes with the tournament to get closer to the candidates in an attempt to prevent his death.

The game will have eight different endings involving Emilia, Ram, Rem, Beatrice, Felt, Priscilla, Anastasia, and Crusch.

The game will ship on March 23 in Japan with a standard edition for 7,500 yen (about US$73), limited edition for 10,500 yen (about US$102), and download edition for 7,000 yen (about US$68).

Nagatsuki launched the story in the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in 2012, and Kadokawa published the eighth novel in the series on March 25. The light novel series has 1 million copies in print as of June, and the series was the #10 best-selling light novel series in Japan from November 2015 to May 2016. Yen Press released the first light novel volume in English on July 19. Yen Press is also releasing Daichi Matsuse's manga adaptation of the series in English, and the publisher released the first volume on July 26.

An ongoing television anime adaptation of the series premiered on April 3. Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs in Japan under the title Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-. Crunchyroll is also streaming both the Re:Zero ~Starting Break Time From Zero~ and Re:PETIT ~Starting Life in Another World from PETIT~ short anime spinoff series.
