Sailor Moon Lockets, Dolls, Aprons, and Blu-rays, Oh My!

Bandai's latest barrage of Sailor Moon merch includes "beauty gummies"

Sailor Moon keeps rolling down the endless merchandise train. This time we musical lockets, more Pullip dolls, aprons, gummy candy, and the latest specs on the second Sailor Moon Crystal Blu-ray. Let's dig in!

Bandai is re-releasing another classic Sailor Moon toy for fans both new and old. The "Starry Sky Music Box" (Hoshizora no Orgel) is the fifth item in Bandai's Moonlight Memory series of recreated goods. Bandai is reissuing the music locket in gold and pink, just like the old ones issued in 1992 and 1993. The locket plays an instrumental version of the original series' opening theme, "Moonlight Densetsu" while the centerpiece rotates, just like in the original anime series.

Bandai will accept preorders for 5,400 yen (about US$51) until November 10 with plans to ship in March 2015.

Bandai is also accepting preorders for its Princess Serenity Pullip doll, the fourth to be introduced after Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, and Sailor Venus. The Extra Fancy doll comes in her regal chiffon white dress accented with lace and faux pearls.

The doll is retailing for 18,360 yen (about US$172), and is expected to ship in December. Bandai is releasing Sailor Mercury this month and Sailor Venus next month. The company released Sailor Moon in July.

Anyone who's watched the show knows that any attempt by Usagi to cook usually ends in failure. Besides, why shouldn't the other guardians get a chance to try their skills in kitchen? Especially Jupiter! Fortunately Premium Bandai took these serious request into consideration and decided to expand its line of aprons to include Sailor Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Venus, and Chibi Moon.

These aprons are a little more pricey than their predecessor at 6,480 yen each (US$61). Bandai is taking reservations and the aprons should ship in December.

Last on Bandai's Sailor Moon merchandise train is a new item in its "Miracle Romance" line of beauty products. Unlike the eyeliner, lipstick, perfume, powder, and nail polish, this item is edible. In fact, it's supposed to taste like mangoes in yogurt.

The Moon Crystal Gummies are a tasty treat that contains collagen, an ingredient the product claims will help with skin appearance. The gummies will be sold in convenience stores and supermarkets across Japan beginning in January.

Images were released on Tuesday of the second Sailor Moon Crystal Japanese Limited Edition BD, featuring Sailor Mercury of course. The Limited Edition includes, like the first volume, a special charm (Mercury's transformation stick), a special 24-page booklet, and a box. The discs include episodes 3 and 4 and audio commentary by the voices of Sailor Mercury and Sailor Mars (Hisako Kanemoto and Rina Satō) and director Munehisa Sakai.

The volume retails for 6,500 yen (US$61) and will go on sale in Japan on November 12.

What's your favorite new Sailor Moon item and do you plan to pick up any of these for yourself? Tell us in the forums.
