Funasshi Pear Fairy Mascot Makes Movie Debut in Precure

Funabashi's unofficial mascot makes big-screen debut in HappinessCharge PreCure! film

Funasshi, the unofficial pear-fairy mascot of Funabashi City in Chiba Prefecture near Tokyo, will make its silver screen debut in Eiga HappinessCharge PreCure! Ningyō no Kuni no Ballerina (HappinessCharge PreCure! the Movie: The Ballerina of the Land of Dolls) on October 11. Funasshi will play "itself."

Toei Animation producer Hiroaki Shibata explained that Funasshi has a positive attitude in any situation and a policy of appearing anywhere to spread joy to people. Those aspects go hand-in-hand with HappinessCharge PreCure heroine Cure Lovely striving with all her might and a positive attitude for everyone.

In the film, the magical girls of the HappinessCharge PreCure! television anime hold a puppet show at a nursery when the puppets suddenly come to life and start talking. The ballerina doll Tsumugi-chan asks the Precure girls to save her kingdom and transports them to a doll paradise, the Doll Kingdom. There, they face the same Saiarks that threaten their own world, as well as a mysterious figure named Black Fang who threatens the kingdom.

People who see the film will receive a bonus light-up Miracle Dress Light and PreCard (limited to 25,000 while supplies last). The Mainichi Shimbun paper "quotes" Funasshi as being thrilled to be offered a role in the film, and the mascot asks Precure fans to support the Precure girls with all their strength by waving their Miracle Lights at pivotal moments in the film.

Funnashi already stars in its own manga, and even overseas television news has profiled the popular mascot.
