Check Out Life-Size Gundam Unicorn's 1st Projection Mapping

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The life-size statue of the Unicorn Gundam mobile suit from the Mobile Suit Gundam UC anime showed off its new projection mapping spectacle at a ceremony held on April 20, the day before the general public showings. The projection mapping show recreates the story of humankind's advancement into space and other important events from the Universal Century timeline.

As you can see in the above video, the show starts off chronicling humanity's discovery of flight and the first landing on the moon before zooming ahead into the Universal Century timeline.

Projection mapping shows will be held three times a day, each lasting about six minutes, until May 6.

The life-size statue of the Unicorn Gundam mobile suit from the Mobile Suit Gundam UC anime formally debuted on Tokyo's Odaiba island last year. The statue has the unique ability to transform from "Unicorn mode" to "Destroy mode," and luminesce from 50 different areas.

The Gundam Unicorn model replaced the earlier full-size RX-78-2 Gundam which stood in the same location for five years.
