Holy Diver Game Finally Gets English Release on NES 29 Years Later

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

Video game accessory company Retro-Bit announced on January 3 that it plans to release a physical edition of an English version of Irem's Holy Diver Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) game... 29 years after an English version was originally slated to release.

The game will launch with a collector's edition in May. Retailer Castle Mania Games is taking pre-orders. The collector's edition includes the physical NES game cartridge, an instruction manual, stickers, a special colored cartridge (for the first 1,000 units only), a numbered certificate, two pins, two color lithograph cards, and a box.

Retro-Bit is taking suggestions on Twitter about what the color of the cartridge should be for the release.

Irem originally released the game for the Famicom in Japan in April 1989. The game had a scheduled English release in North America in the same year, but was never released.
