Franchise's 3rd season premieres in April, film opens in summer

The official website for the My Hero Academia anime franchise began streaming on Monday a music video that features the second television season's first opening theme song "Peace Sign" by Kenshi Yonezu. The video features animation from the anime's second season with new visual effects.

The video promotes the anime's upcoming third season and film as well as Yonezu's album Bootleg, which features the song. The album shipped on November 1.

The third television anime season based on Kōhei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia manga will premiere in April 2018. The new season will cover the forest school trip arc from Kōhei Horikoshi's original manga. Funimation will stream the third season of the anime.

The upcoming anime film, titled My Hero Academia THE MOVIE, will premiere in summer 2018. The movie will show the previously unrevealed past of a certain character, and will also feature the characters of Class A.

The manga has inspired two television anime series. The anime's first 13-episode season premiered in April 2016, and the second 25-episode series premiered on April 1. The manga has also inspired a spinoff manga series, as well as several video games. Bandai Namco Entertainment debuted two promotional videos for the recently announced My Hero Academia: One's Justice game at Jump Festa 2018 on December 16-17.

Horikoshi launched the superhero manga series in Weekly Shonen Jump in July 2014, and Shueisha published the 16th compiled volume on November 2. The manga has more than 12 million copies in print. The manga's 13th and 14th compiled book volumes both bundled an original anime. Viz Media is publishing the manga digitally in its Weekly Shonen Jump magazine and in print.
