A television anime adaptation of Ryo Shirakome's Arifureta - From Commonplace to World's Strongest (Arifureta Shokugyō de Sekai Saikyō) light novel series has been green-lit for an April 2018 premiere on Tokyo MX, AT-X, and other channels.

J-Novel Club releases the light novel series in English digitally, and it describes the story:

Seventeen year old Hajime Nagumo is your average, everyday otaku. However, his simple life of pulling all-nighters and sleeping in school is suddenly turned upside down when he, along with the rest of his class, is summoned to a fantasy world! They're treated like heroes and tasked with the duty of saving the human race from utter extinction. But what should have been any otaku's wet dream quickly turns into Hajime's nightmare. While the rest of his class are blessed with godlike powers, Hajime's job, Synergist, only has a single transmutation skill. Ridiculed and bullied by his classmates for being weak, he soon finds himself in despair. Will he be able to survive in this dangerous world of monsters and demons with only a glorified blacksmith's level of strength?

The cast will star:

Jun Kamiya (Kingdom) is directing at the Studio White FOX, and Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Is the order a rabbit?) is in charge of the series scripts. Atsuo Tobe (Kingdom) is adapting Takayaki's original novel illustrations for the anime's character designs, as well as serving as chief animation director.

Seven Seas will publish Arifureta - From Commonplace to World's Strongest in print in English beginning next March.

Shirakome launched the novel series in Japan in June 2015 under the OVERLAP Bunko label, with illustrations by Takayaki, after initially presenting it on the user-submission site Shōsetsu ni Narau. OVERLAP will publish the novel series' seventh volume on December 25 with a drama CD (that shares the same voice cast with the anime), and then the eighth volume with another drama CD on March 25.

Artist RoGa launched an ongoing manga adaptation last year on Comic Gardo, OVERLAP's online manga site. OVERLAP published the manga's first compiled book volume last December. A manga adaptation of the side-story novel volume Arifureta Shokugyō de Sekai Saikyō -Rei- (Arifureta - From Commonplace to World's Strongest: Zero) will start early next year.

An August promotional video teased the side-story novel volume, the first drama CD, and the (unannounced at the time) anime:
