Zelda: Breath of the Wild Already Completed in 84 Minutes

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Nintendo dropped its latest Zelda title, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, for the Wii U and Switch on Friday. The open world spin on the well-established series gives players more freedom to explore at their own pace, even if that pace means completing the main story thread in under two hours.

YouTuber Venick409 uploaded his speedrun of the game on Saturday. The video contains spoilers, so if you're still working your way through, you might want to skip the video.

Venick409 noted that his run time will improve if he manages to not wipe while fighting Ganon since a loss to the multi-stage boss can increase a run-time by 11 minutes.

Nintendo revealed the game was in development in 2013 and revealed the first gameplay footage in 2014. Nintendo originally planned to release the game in 2015, but then the company pushed the game back to 2016, and then delayed it again to 2017. While originally slated for release only for Nintendo's Wii U console, the game was released simultaneously for both the Wii U and the new Switch platform.

Nintendo offers a "Master Edition" of the game. The edition retails for US$129.99 and includes a Master Sword statue, Sheikah carrying case for the Switch, 24-track soundtrack, Sheikah eye coin, and tapestry world map.
