Remake partners with February games Mobius Final Fantasy, Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia

The "Final Fantasy Seitan 30 Shūnen Opening Ceremony" event unveiled a new key visual for Square Enix's Final Fantasy VII remake game on Tuesday. The image features Cloud and Sephiroth with the Shinra Electric Power Company building in between them.

Tuesday marks the 20th anniversary since Square released the original Final Fantasy VII role-playing game. Tetsuya Nomura is returning to the PlayStation 4 remake game as its director after serving as the character designer for the original game, and Kazushige Nojima is also returning to write the scenario.

Square Enix's Mobius Final Fantasy smartphone role-playing game will have a collaboration event with the Final Fantasy VII remake, which will include resources from the remake itself used in the game. Players will join Cloud, and will also see the Guard Scorpion and Mako Reactor. The collaboration will also include a Sephiroth quest. Mobius Final Fantasy will launch on PC via Steam in early February.

Project leader Naoki Hamaguchi noted that the PC version will not have compressed assets, so the 3D models will have a higher resolution. The game will also support up to 4K resolution and higher framerates up to 120fps. Players can sync their account between the game's mobile and PC versions to play and continue progress on either version.

The game will also have the collaboration event with the Final Fantasy VII remake, which includes resources from the remake itself used in the game. Players will join Cloud, and will also see the Guard Scorpion and Mako Reactor.

Square Enix describes the game:

Created by an all-star development team including producer Yoshinori Kitase and writer Kazushige Nojima – known for their work on the acclaimed FINAL FANTASY VII and upcoming FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE – MOBIUS FINAL FANTASY is the story of a man who wakes up in a world called Palamecia with no memory of his past. There, he finds himself tasked with bringing hope to the world by unraveling a mysterious prophecy around the legendary warrior of light.

Square Enix released the game on iOS and Android devices in Japan in June 2015. The game made the iTunes Best of 2015 list in Japan. The game debuted in the WEST. last August.

The event also announced that the Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia smartphone game will launch on Wednesday for iOS and Android devices. Square Enix announced in November that it had delayed the release until "early" 2017.

As part of the Final Fantasy VII remake's collaboration with Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia, Aerith will appear in the smartphone game. Cloud, Tifa, and Yuffie will also appear in the game.

Other new characters will join the game, including Galuf Halm Baldesion (Final Fantasy V), Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII), Squall (Final Fantasy VIII), Eiko (Final Fantasy IX), Shantotto (Final Fantasy XI), Vanille (Final Fantasy XIII), and Ace (Final Fantasy Type-0).

Other confirmed characters in the game include: Warrior of Light (Final Fantasy), Firion (Final Fantasy II), Onion Knight (Final Fantasy III), Cecil Harvey (Final Fantasy IV), Bartz Klauser (Final Fantasy V), Terra Branford (Final Fantasy VI), Cloud Strife (Final Fantasy VII), Seifer Almasy (Final Fantasy VIII), Zidane Tribal (Final Fantasy IX), Yuna (Final Fantasy X), Vaan (Final Fantasy XII), Hope Estheim (Final Fantasy XIII), Y'shtola (Final Fantasy XIV), and Rem Tokimiya (Final Fantasy Type-0). The site lists one more unannounced character from Final Fantasy XI.

Square Enix is running a pre-registration campaign for the game where the more people pre-register for the game, the more free items those who pre-register will receive when the game arrives. The game will be free to play, but in-game items will cost extra.

Square Enix released Dissidia Final Fantasy, a PlayStation Portable fighting game featuring Final Fantasy heroes and villains, in 2008 in Japan, and in 2009 in other parts of the world. The company then released the Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy sequel in 2011 for the PSP with new characters, stages, and story.

Square Enix then partnered with Koei Tecmo Games' Team Ninja (Dead or Alive series) to develop the Dissidia Final Fantasy arcade game, which launched in Japan in November 2015.
