2-Million Yen Life-Size Saekano Up for Auction—For Double the Price

The 20 life-size statues of Megumi Kato, the video game heroine conjured up by Saekano's Tomoya Aki cost a pretty penny when it debuted earlier this year. Now, one of the buyers is hoping to recoup the two million yen (US$19,729) cost and then some. Seller "shuffle_lianthaus_kaede" has put one of the statues up on Yahoo! Auctions for the "buy now" price of four million yen (US$39,459) or bidders can start at 3.5 million yen (US$34,527).
Such a unique item requires an equally unique buyer though. As of Monday morning Japan Time there are no bids on the statue. The seller is even throwing in a wall-scroll signed by Saenai Heroine no Sodate-kata creator Fumiaki Maruto, illustrator Kurehito Misaki, and Megumi Katō voice actress Kiyono Yasuno.
Will the seller get a hit? The auction is only open for four more days.
Life-size statues of anime characters have become increasingly popular as of late. Oreimo's Ayase is the latest to get turned into a full-scale figure. Others have included Mumei of Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress and Shōyo and Tobio from Haikyu!!
