Romantic comedy series follows Dragon Quest X party members who become roommates

The official Twitter account for Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine revealed on Saturday that Renjuro Kindaichi's Yūbe wa Otanoshimi Deshita ne (Thou hast had a good night's sleep I hope. or lit. It Was Fun Last Night) manga is getting a live-action television series that will premiere in 2019. Square Enix has opened a special website for the announcement.

This year's 17th issue of Young Gangan had teased earlier this month that the 18th issue would have an "important announcement" for the manga when it ships on September 7.

The romantic comedy manga manga centers on Powder, who has been enjoying the world of Dragon Quest X and spends every day playing with party members online. One day, Powder unexpectedly has to share a room in real life with a teammate named Gorō. They discover that their real-life personas are not quite the same as their game personas.

Kindaichi launched the manga on both Gangan Online and in Young Gangan magazine in June 2014. Square Enix will publish the manga's fifth compiled volume on Monday.

Kindaichi launched the manga Jungle wa Itsumo Hare Nochi Guu in 1996, and the manga inspired the Haré+Guu television series, as well as the Haré+Guu Deluxe and Jungle Wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu Final original video anime. AN Entertainment licensed the television anime and Haré+Guu Deluxe in North America.

Kindaichi launched the Liar x Liar manga in Dessert in 2010, and ended the series last year. Kodansha published the manga's 10th and final compiled book volume in September 2017. The manga ranked #10 in Takarajimasha Inc.'s Kono Manga ga Sugoi ranking in 2012, and was nominated for the 39th annual Kodansha Manga Awards in 2015.

Kindaichi is also currently serializing the manga LaLaLa in Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine, as well as the N to S manga. Kindaichi launched N to S in Kodansha's Dessert magazine on January 24.
