posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
New manga about original series' protagonists begins on July 8

The 31st issue of Shogakukan's Big Comic Spirits magazine revealed on Monday that Toei's new sequel project for its 2009 Kamen Rider W (pronounced "double") series will be a new manga titled Fūto Tantei (Fūto Detectives) that will debut in the magazine on July 8.

Riku Sanjō, a crucial writer for the original series, is in charge of the manga's scripts. Masaki Satou (Love Theory) is drawing the manga. Toei producer Hideaki Tsukada is supervising the manga. Katsuya Terada (Blood: The Last Vampire, Silk Road Kids) is credited for creature design.

As with the original series, the new sequel is once again set in Fūto city and will focus on the characters Shōtarō Hidari and Philip.

The Kamen Rider W series aired from 2009 to 2010.

Satou's Love Theory manga with writer Keiya Mizuno (Yume o Kanaeru Zō) launched in Futabasha's Manga Action magazine in June 2012 and ended in 2014. The manga inspired a live-action television series adaptation in December 2014. Crunchyroll published chapters of the manga as they debuted in Japan.

The same issue of Big Comic Spirits also revealed on Monday that Utsurun Desu manga creator Sensha Yoshida will launch the Shinobi-fū! Niko to Meshi manga in the magazine's 33rd issue starting on July 15. Additionally, Dragon Head's Minetarō Mochizuki will draw a one-shot titled "Sticklerz!" in the same 33rd issue, and Masami Yuuki (Mobile Police Patlabor, Birdy the Mighty) will draw a one-shot in the magazine's 34th issue on July 24.
