Square Enix, NieR's Taro Yoko Reveal SINoALICE Smartphone Game
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
A teaser website opened on Thursday to announce that Square Enix is producing the SINoALICE iOS and Android smartphone game with freelance developer Taro Yoko (Drakengard series, NieR) as creative director. Pokelabo (Senki Zesshō Symphogear XD Unlimited, Senran no Samurai Kingdom) is developing the game. Square Enix began streaming a teaser promotional video for the game on Thursday.
The game's story revolves around popular fairy tale characters trapped in the world of "Library." Their only wish is to bring someone back as their author.
Pre-registration is available now, and the game is offering in-game items as rewards depending on how many people follow its social media accounts. If 100,000 people pre-register, all players will receive a secret "limited job."
The game is slated to launch this spring. Basic gameplay will be free, but some items will be available for purchase.
Yoko is directing the NieR:Automata PlayStation 4 game at Platinum Games. The game will ship for the PlayStation 4 in Japan on February 23, followed by North America on March 7 and Europe on March 10. The game's PS4 demo is available now. Square Enix also plans to release the game on PC via Steam.
