Pokémon Go Adds Pichu, Togepi, More Johto Pokémon

New Pokémon available via eggs at PokéStops

The official website for the Pokémon Go smartphone game announced on Monday that "Pichu, Togepi, and several other Pokémon" have been added to the game. Players will be able to get eggs at PokéStops that will hatch into Pokémon from the Johto region, from the game series' second generation (Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver).

In the United States, the eggs will be more common at PokéStops located at Sprint and Starbucks stores, due to the game's collaborations with both chains.

Pokémon Go initially offered 145 Pokémon — all of the original Kanto Pokémon except Ditto, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mew, and Mewtwo. The game added Ditto in November.

The Pokémon Go iOS and Android app launched in select countries including the United States on July 6, and has since launched in more than 100 countries and territories. The "Pokémon GO Plus" accessory shipped on September 16.
