An Inside Look at the Fate/Grand Order Hotel Rooms

posted on by Kim Morrissy

Sunshine City Prince Hotel (3-1-5 Higashi-Ikebukuro, Toshima-ku, Tokyo) opened a Fate/Grand Order-inspired floor on April 6, 2019. Called “Hotel Chaldea,” this floor contains hotel rooms with four different FGO themes, plus several common rooms where visitors can look at FGO art, listen to the game's music, and relive the works of the Fate series.

The hotel's 25th floor was renamed as "IKEPRI 25" to serve as a "concept floor" for various anime, manga, and subculture works. Because this is Ikebukuro, you can generally expect a focus on attractive boys. If you're a fan of the male characters in FGO, then you may want to consider staying at this hotel. Here's an inside look of what you may expect from the rooms.

This is the “Sakamoto Detective Agency, Plus Oryō” room. This one has a blend of Japanese and Western styles due to the fact that Sakamoto Ryōma is a famous historical person from the 19th century who worked to overthrow the Shogunate and replace it with imperial rule. His wife was Narasaki Ryō, who is often referred to as “Oryō.” Sakamoto and his wife share the room with Okada Izō, one of the most famous assassins of the Bakumatsu period.

The “Golden Room: The Sport of Kings” highlights Ozymandias (or Ramesses II) and Gilgamesh. Their room has the opulence fitting of an Egyptian or Babylonian king.

“Room Camelot: Holiday in Avalon” highlights the male Arthur Pendragon and Merlin. Their room has a regal air befitting Arthur's legend. The windows show a view of the castle.

The “Baker Street: To My Beloved Sidekick” room features Sherlock Holmes and James Moriarty in a room straight out of Victorian England's London. This room has some of the objects that Holmes would keep around, although there are modern conveniences as well.

There are also four common rooms that everyone staying in a room on that floor can visit. There's a museum area where you can look at art, figures, and replicas of the iconic weapons from the game. Hokusai's daughter provides a voice-over, introducing visitors to the museum.

A music area lets you listen to the game's soundtrack with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri. There's even a gramophone on the table as a nice effect.

In the recreation room, you can chill on the sofas and read one of the many FGO manga and books available to browse. Alternatively, you could play FGO. You can even project your smartphone to a big screen to show everyone else what you're playing.

Finally, there's a theater where you can relive the animated Fate properties with clips from Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files: Rail Zeppelin Grace note, Fate/Apocrypha, Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel, and more.

Hotel Chaldea will run from April 6, 2019 to July 6, 2019. Reservations opened in March. Rooms for April and May have already been fully booked, but you can book for June and July starting from May 1st from the hotel's website.
