Kemono Friends Collaborates With Zoo That Inspired Franchise

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Keio Corporation, Tama Zoological Park, and Inokashira Park Zoo are partnering for Kemono Friends' newest zoo collaboration. The "Keio no Densha ni Notte Dōbutsu-tachi ni Ai ni Ikō! Tama & Inokashira Zoo x Kemono Friends Stamp Rally" (Let's Ride Keio Trains and Go Meet Animals! Tama & Inokashira Zoo x Kemono Friends Stamp Rally) event will be held from September 21 to October 22.

The first 9,000 people to collect all four stamps from both zoos and the nearby Keio Tama Zoo Station and Kichijōji Station will receive headsign-style charms. Fans who want to participate must visit the stamp stands at the four locations and stamp their collaboration stamp books. The collaboration is distributing 40,000 stamp books, and they are also available for download on its official website.

A Serval charm will be available from September 21 to October 6 while supplies last, followed by a Fennec charm from October 7 to October 22. After supplies of the charms run out, the collaboration will give away sticker sheets.

People who complete the stamp rally can also enter for a chance to win more prizes. A prize drawing will offer three posters signed by Yuka Ozaki (voice of Serval), eight original headsigns, and four original stamps.

In addition, special train announcements featuring Ozaki as Serval will play on the Tama Zoo Train on October 7-8 and on October 14-15. During the campaign period, the train will also display Kemono Friends headsigns. The signs will feature Serval, Giraffe, Fennec, and African Porcupine, and they will change every week.

Kemono Friends conceptual designer Mine Yoshizaki revealed the origin of the franchise's concept on Thursday. Yoshizaki said on Twitter that he decided to create Kemono Friends after seeing a serval at Tama Zoological Park about four years ago. Night Safari, Singapore also influenced his creation of Kemono Friends' entirely animal world.

Chiba Zoological Park and Misaki Park are currently running Kemono Friends collaborations.
