Hit the Court With Reebok's Kuroko's Basketball Sneakers

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Anime News Network's merchandise coverage sponsored by Tokyo Otaku Mode.

Although Tadatoshi Fujimaki's Kuroko's Basketball manga concluded, the franchise is still a slam dunk in terms of popularity. The third anime compilation film will screen in Japan from December 3-16, and the film adaptation of Fujimaki's Kuroko no Basuke Extra Game sequel manga will open in Japan in spring 2017. Before the latest anime debut, Reebok is teaming up with Bandai to give fans a chance to walk literally in the characters' shoes.

Reebok will release seven pairs of sneakers inspired by the basketball franchise's characters. The special models of Reebok's ZPump Fusion 2.0 shoes will incorporate the company's "the pump technology."

The sneakers will be available in 22.5- to 29-centimeter sizes (U.S. mens sizes 5 to 11.5), and each pair will retail for 19,429 yen (about US$184). The first regular reservation period is running from November 9 to November 24, and people who order the sneakers during that period will receive tin character badges. The second preorder period will run from December 17 to January 5 and offer mini acrylic character charms. Five people who order will also receive complete sets of the tin badges and acrylic charms.

Reebok released shoes inspired by Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex's Tachikoma mecha in 2011. Gundam also collaborated with Reebok to offer sneakers inspired by the franchise's famous mecha in 2014.
