MMA Fighter Ronda Rousey Wants to Star in Live-Action Metroid Film

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey has shown her love for Pokémon by training in a Pikachu costume and threw down opponents in a shirt emblazoned with her anime husband Vegeta. Now the Olympian, actress, and author revealed some of her nerd acting dreams by throwing her hat into the ring to star as Samus in a hypothetical live-action Metroid film.

GameSpot's Mat Paget asked Rousey what movie based on a video game she'd like to star in the most. Rousey responded with Samus.

I've always wanted to be Samus. That would be badass. I love how people found out later that it was a hot chick on the inside. And then most of the day you're in a suit, so you can just hang out and eat donuts and be the star of Metroid. I hope they make a movie out of that.

Nintendo hasn't announced plans for a Metroid film adaptation, but the company president Tatsumi Kimishima did say Nintendo would announce new licensing deals for film and anime later this year. Nintendo started easing up on its IPs recently with the announcement that it would collaborate on new attractions at Universal Studios Parks including the Osaka location.

Thanks to Daniel Zelter for the news tip.
