Evangelion and Japanese Sword Exhibit Inspires Dolls

The official Evangelion Store opened pre-orders on Monday for an articulated Asuka Langely doll. Wearing a red kimono and wielding a a Japanese sword, Asuka is the first in a series based on the Evangelion and Japanese Swords Exhibit that toured Japan and Europe. Takara Tomy will ship the Asuka doll in January. Pre-orders will open for Mari Illustrious Makinami and Rei Ayanami at a later date.
The doll measures 27cm (10.6in) high and comes with an undershirt, kimono, obi (designed like an AT-Field), socks, underwear, hair clips, sandals, sword, sheath, a sword holder, stand, stand base, and pedestal for display.
She retails for 16,200 yen (US$130).
The exhibit opened in 2012 when swordsmiths forged a 3 meter long replica of the Sword of Longinus for the original "Evangelion and Japanese Swords Exhibit" at the Bizen Osafune Japanese Sword Museum. The exhibit has since traveled to several cities in Japan and Europe last year.
