Chelsy will perform insert song

The June issue of Shueisha's Betsuma magazine is announcing the performers of the songs for the Ao Haru Ride television anime based on Io Sakisaka's shōjo manga on Tuesday. CHICO with Honeyworks will perform the opening theme song, while Fujifabric will perform the ending theme song. In addition, the three-member girl band Chelsy will perform an insert song.

CHICO with Honeyworks is a new collaboration between separate Vocaloid creators CHiCO and HoneyWorks. Chelsy debuted its first mini-album in March 2014. Fujifabric has previously performed opening theme songs for Space Brothers, Silver Spoon, and tsuritama.

The anime will star:

Maaya Uchida (Noragami's Hiyori, Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live's Wakana) as Futaba Yoshioka

Yūki Kaji (Guilty Crown's Shu, Attack on Titan's Eren) as Kō Mabuchi

Ai Kayano (Nagi no Asukara's Chisaki, Guilty Crown's Inori) as Yūri Makita, Futaba's friend who likes Kō.

Mikako Komatsu (Nagi no Asukara's Miuna, Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live's Ito) as Shūko Murao, a "lone wolf" who likes Tanaka-sensei.

KENN (Samurai Flamenco's Anji, Hunter x Hunter's Phinks) as Aya Kominato, who loves events and is interested in Shūko.

Daisuke Hirakawa (The Familiar of Zero's Julio Cesare, Hozuki no Reitetsu's Momotaro) as Yōichi Tanaka

Ao Haru Ride revolves around Futaba, a girl who was in love with a boy named Kō Tanaka in middle school. However, after a misunderstanding, their relationship as friends ends when he transfers schools over summer vacation. In high school, her world is turned around once again when she meets Kō again, this time under the name of Kō Mabuchi.

Ai Yoshimura (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU) is directing the series at Production I.G. Tomoko Konparu (Kimi ni Todoke, Uta no Prince-sama - Maji Love 1000%, Sunday Without God) is in charge of the scripts.

Sakisaka began her Ao Haru Ride manga in the magazine in 2011, and Shueisha is shipped the ninth compiled volume in Japan last month. The manga was also ranked as one of the top 20 shojo manga recommended by professionals in the fields of manga and publishing. Viz publishes Sakisaka's Strobe Edge manga in North America.

The anime will premiere in July. A live-action film adaptation is also slated for December.
