Rose Guns Days Prologue Manga Ends, Last Season Manga Starts

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Manga series are based on Higurashi: When They Cry creator's original game

The May issue of Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine announced on Tuesday that artist Mei Renjōji and writer Ryukishi07's (07th Expansion) Rose Guns Days prologue manga Rose Guns Days: Fukushū wa Ōgon no Kaori will end in the following issue next month.

Ryukishi07 (Higurashi: When They Cry, Umineko When They Cry) created the original game's story which takes place in Japan after World War II. Devastated in the aftermath of defeat, the Japanese government complies with the Allies' reconstruction plan. Japan begins to recover from the loss after a few years, but America and China intricately divide control of the nation on a municipal level. The many Chinese and American immigrants make Japanese people the minority in their own land.

A girl named Rose Haibara works at the club Primavera and lends money to Japanese people so that they can rebuild their lives. Some people take advantage of that generosity. Meanwhile, Leo Shishigami is best known for his reputation among women. Everything begins to change when that legendary man meets Rose in the spring of 1947.

The Rose Guns Days: Fukushū wa Ōgon no Kaori manga is set a year earlier in 1946 and follows the harsh lives of Rose and the "women of the night" immediately after the war.

In a related announcement, the April issue of Square Enix's Gangan Joker magazine announced on Friday the Rose Guns Days Last Season manga will launch in the May issue of Big Gangan, which ships April 25. Artist Mitsunori Zaki will draw the "heroic action final chapter."

The Rose Guns Days Season 2 manga by artist Nana Natsuishi ended in Square Enix's Monthly G Fantasy magazine earlier this month and Sōichirō's Rose Guns Days Season 1 manga ended in Gangan Joker last month. Rose Gun Days Season 3 by artist You Omura is currently published on the Gangan Online website.

A separate spinoff, Rose Guns Days: Aishū no Cross Knife by artist Tsuyoshi Takagi ran in Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan magazine and ended last year.
