Mr. Osomatsu's 2nd Opening Theme Single Ranks #2 with 25,000 Copies

Highest ranking Mr. Osomatsu single yet, beating ending theme's #3 December ranking

Japanese entertainment news and ranking website Oricon revealed on Tuesday that "Zenryoku Batankyū," the CD single of the second opening theme for the Mr. Osomatsu (Osomatsu-san) anime, ranked #2 in the Oricon singles chart for the February 8-14 week. The single shipped on February 10 and sold 25,000 copies in its first week. The idol group AŌP (Ace of Diamond, Insufficient Direction) performed the song.

"Zenryoku Batankyū" is the highest ranking AŌP single and highest ranking Mr. Osomatsu single yet. It topped "Hanamaru Pippi wa Yoiko Dake," AŌP's single for the show's first opening theme which ranked #15 last November, and it also beat "Six Same Faces ~Kon'ya wa Saikō!", the single for the show's first ending theme which ranked #3 last December.

Fujio Akatsuka's original Osomatsu-kun manga and "high tension comedy" TV anime centered on the Matsuno household, which has six naughty and mischievous sons (who are sextuplets). All of the sextuplets, including the eldest Osomatsu, are all in love with the same girl, Totoko. The original series followed the family when the sons were 10 years old. The Mr. Osomatsu show re-imagines the original manga and TV anime with the sextuplets as adults.

AŌP is a six-member idol group that formed in September 2012 under the premise of, "If you assemble girls who love anime, isn't anything possible?" They made their professional CD debut in March 2013.

The series premiered last October. Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs in Japan.
