Ghost in the Shell Realize Project Sets Sights on Half-Size Tachikoma

The Ghost in the Shell Realize Project launched in 2014 with the goal to bring the sci-fi tech from Masamune Shirow's franchise into the real world. Since its launch, the project has introduced a 3D model of Motoko Kusanagi, superhuman sports, optical camouflage, virtual reality, and humanoid robots.
One group is pushing the robot angle by working on a functioning, half-size Tachikoma. Developers want the robot to walk, communicate and can reiterate dialogue from the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex series. The current Tachikoma model is only the first prototype. Developers plan to reveal the second prototype in April with tests to follow in May. So far, only the robot's legs are completed.
An award ceremony was held on February 11 to award one of 10 teams that furthered the project's mission alongside a five-lecture series by professors.
