Nestlé Reminds Candy Fans That Sake KitKats Are Not for Kids

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Nestlé's KitKat chocolates debuted a new Japan-exclusive flavor this month: sake. The item was created to appeal to tourists and demand quickly had online shops stocking the snack for import around the world.

The flavor includes actual sake powder, and unsurprisingly, the possible side effects that come with consuming alcohol. The packaging notes that the chocolates, with their 0.8% alcohol content, are not for children. The number required to get drunk off the chocolates is almost impossibly high, but Nestle still recommends the chocolate be enjoyed by adults. Actual sake is about 18%–20% alcohol, for instance.

The new treat debuted on February 1 in a three-box pack for 150 yen (US$1.25) or a nine-box pack for 700 yen (US$5.75).
