Dengeki G's Announces Love Live! Sunshine Mini-Units Name Poll

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The original Love Live! starred nine girls who made up the idol group μ's. Within the group itself were mini-units of three girls each with their own name designations and singles. The group "Printemps" includes the characters Honoka, Kotori, and Hanayo, lily white includes Umi, Rin, and Nozomi, and Bibi includes Eli, Nico, and Maki.

Dengeki G's Magazine will run a poll starting on February 1 for fans to vote 30 mini-unit names for Love Live! Sunshine!!'s AQUORS idols. The groups themselves are already formed and include Yō Watanabe, Ruby Kurosawa, and Chika Takami in Unit A, Dia Kurosawa, Kanan Matsuura, and Hanamaru Kunikida in Unit B, and Yoshiko Tsushima, Riko Sakurauchi, and Mari Ohara in Unit C.

Each unit has 10 possible names choices. The entries were chosen from over 5,000 submissions accepted from November 30 to December 18.

Possibilities include:
Unit A

  • Kyumia
  • Cocoa
  • CYaRon!
  • Soar!
  • Chu's day!
  • Powerful Garage (note: likely a reference to garage rock)
  • Hidamari Flowers
  • FiLLY
  • +chip
  • Mimi flore

Unit B

  • AZALEA
  • KazaHana
  • KANARIA
  • Clepat
  • Komorebi (lit. "Sunshine filtering through foliage")
  • Sazanka (lit. Camellia)
  • syaran
  • Haibis
  • Pione
  • MONAMINA

Unit C

  • vampop
  • Guilty Kiss
  • Chrom Cross
  • Koakuma Individual (lit. Little Devil Individual)
  • Sumire-gumi (lit. Violet Group)
  • Dear Dive
  • pipit
  • Mystic Flower
  • RYM
  • Lolic

The choices for Unit A have already ran into a bit of a snag. The choice option, "Chu's Day" already belongs to an active girls band in Japan. The group performed the ending theme for the Himitsu no Kenmin Show. The band members reached out to the Love Live! staff, but the option is still listed on Dengeki G's website.

The March issue of Dengeki G's Magazine goes on sale in Japan on Saturday. The magazine is announcing that AQUORS' second single will go on sale on April 27. Yō Watanabe will be the "center" for that single. The website Yara-On is reporting the single's title is "Koi ni Naritai AQUARIUM" and will include an anime promotional video, however that information isn't yet confirmed.
