Sword Art Online Character Poll Results Announced, Kibaō Still Makes Top 10

Two weeks ago, the staff at Dengeki Bunko called a do-over when minor Sword Art Online character Kibaō shot to the top of the character charts during the intermediary results of an ongoing poll. The poll itself is to select the series' five most popular characters. The novels' artist abec will draw the winners for an upcoming art book cover.
Staff adjusted the poll after acknowledging that fraudulent voting must have taken place to get Kibaō in the #1 spot. He dropped down to #17 while the Sword Art Online version of Asuna regained her rightful place at the top. Voting continued until Saturday and Dengeki Bunko published the final winners. While Kibaō didn't recover his position, the joke served as legitimate advertising and he managed to make it #8, almost landing himself on the cover.
The results are:
- Asuna (SAO)
- Yūki
- Sinon (GGO)
- Kirito (SAO)
- Eugeo
Alice Schuberg, who ranked as #4 in the intermediary results, dropped to to #6.
The futuristic fantasy light novel series has inspired two television anime and a special. An anime film project is also in the works.
