Shokotan Dumps 1,000 Cicadas Shells on Herself During Concert

Shokotan is enjoying a new interest in exoskeletons lately. Before munching on a cake shaped like a shell-clad giant isopod, the Gurren Lagann singer and avid otaku covered herself in shed cicada skins.

"Summer came again this year."The above image shows Shokotan covered in 100 cicadas but she actually dumped a box of 1,000 husks on herself after performing at The Rock In Japan concert in Yoyogi Park.

She then laid down in the cicada shells on the stage. Why? Shokotan said it was a "testament to living" and the act was invigorating.

This is hardly Shokotan's first run-in with cicadas. She's added them to headwear as early as 2008 and has repeatedly appeared with them on herself during the summer months.
