Automated Bumblebee Transformer Wows Tokyo Toy Show Crowd

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Toy giant Takara Tomy brought out one of the largest functioning Transformers during its presentation at the Tokyo Toy Show last weekend. The Bumblebee car entered the stage while controlled with a steering wheel device. After a few hiccups, it then transformed into a 1.3 meter (4 feet) tall robot with a smirking grin. Bumblebee appears to have semi-articulated hands and can toddle and roll in robot form.

A separate group, Project J-deite, is working on a fully sized Transformer with completion set for by mid-2017. It made the "J-deite Quarter," a 1/4 model prototype that has a similar appearance as the Bumblebee model seen above.
