5 years after Angel Beats!, new anime follows boys & girls with powers

The official website for the 2015 television anime Charlotte began streaming a new program announcement commercial on Thursday.

Text: A new home found by a boy. A daily routine begun.
Text: A cruel fate simultaneously set in motion …
Text: Going through adolescence
Text: A story of people with powers

Text: 2015 on Air
Text: Anime promo video debuts late night on April 2!

Like the video, the website also notes that a new anime promotional video will air during the April 2 rerun of the Angel Beats! anime.

An earlier video announced the project in December:

Text: And so, in 2015...
Text: It's time to move to a new frontier
Text: 5 years since Angel Beats!
Text: We were waiting for this day
Text: When a boy and a girl meet each other, their cruel fate begins to move
Text: The promise is that you'll come back.

The story centers around the special abilities that occur among a small percentage of boys and girls in puberty. Yū Otosaka uses his power without others knowing, and lives a fairly normal, average school life. Before him suddenly appears a girl, Nao Tomori. Due to his meeting with her, the fate of special power-users will be exposed. This is the story of those with special powers who experience youth, written by Jun Maeda.

Yū Otosaka
First-year student and student council member with the power to take over another body of his choosing (for only five seconds). According to anime's website, he is "the most perverted protagonist in Key history. If he could be described in one word, it'd be 'stupid.'"

Nao Tomori
First-year student and student council president with the power to make herself disappear (for only one viewer of her choosing)

Jōjirō Takajō
First-year student and student council member with the power of instantaneous or high-speed movement (but cannot make a controlled stop at a point of his choosing). He has to be constantly hospitalized due to his ability, and he wears a protector under his uniform to lessen his injuries.

Yusa Nishimori
First-year student, popular idol, and student council member with the power of a spirit medium (but her older sister Misa possesses her, even when Yusa does not want Misa to)

Jun Maeda is providing the original scenario for the anime, and is also writing the scripts. P.A. Works is animating the series, and Na-Ga is providing the original character designs.

The work is being released in celebration of Key's 15th anniversary, and will be Jun Maeda's 2nd original anime work, with the first being Angel Beats! in 2010.
