'Bartkira' Fan Project Heads to Tokyo for a 2-Week Exhibit

posted on by Bamboo Dong

"Bartkira," an ambitious and long-running fan project to recreate Katsuhiro Ōtomo's Akira manga using characters and settings from Matt Groening's The Simpsons, is heading to Tokyo for a two-week exhibit later this month.

The exhibit, which features artwork from volume three of Bartkira, is being organized by Black Hook Press and Shinjiro Saito from Gallery Hakusen, and will take place from March 8 to 21, with a preview event on March 7. The show will include artwork from Ryan Humphrey, James Harvey, Ronald Wimberly, Zoom Rockman, Jack Teagle, and other artists.

Check out the first two volumes on Bartkira.com, as well as a list of all the artists who've contributed to the project so far.

Incidentally, there is now also a group animation project in the works to create a Bartkira trailer, spearheaded by the folks behind the incredible Moon Animate Make-Up Sailor Moon project.
