Etrian Mystery Dungeon Video Introduces Protector Class

posted on by Tiara Hamilton
Crossover game slated for April 7 in N. America

Atlus USA began streaming a video on Friday introducing the Protector class in its upcoming Nintendo 3DS game Etrian Mystery Dungeon. The class uses its "high DEF stats and tower shield to create an immovable object" that absorbs damaging attacks from their enemies.

Atlus USA previously streamed a short video detailing game's Landsknecht class.

The crossover between Etrian Mystery Dungeon is set for release in Japan on March 5 and April 7 in North America. The company plans to release both physical and digital editions for US$39.99. The launch edition in North America will include a 28-page visual book and a CD with rough versions of six themes from the game's soundtrack

Like the Mystery Dungeon game series, Etrian Mystery Dungeon will feature a new random map each time a player enters a dungeon. Players explore with a party of up to four chosen from ten different Etrian Odyssey class types. Exploration will be in the third-person perspective, unlike the Etrian Odyssey first-person, and players must control their party group.

Atlus' Shigeo Komori and Yukari Yokoro (art director, Etrian Odyssey IV) will serve as producer and director, respectively. Spike Chunsoft's Seiichirō Nagahata and Kaoru Hasegawa will serve as project director and character designer, respectively. Other staff members are returning from previous Etrian Odyssey games: Yūzō Koshiro will compose the music, Yūji Himukai will draft class designs, Shin Nagasawa will provide monster designs, and Nizō Yamamoto will act as art supervisor.
