NEET Board Game Makes Being Jobless Fun

posted on by Chris Nishijima
The game of Life has taken a turn towards the unemployment office.

Board games can have a strange sort of immersive power. Some board games like to power you in a fictional situation, like Clue or Candy Land, while other games, like tabletop RPGs, require you to take on the role of a specific character. However, it's pretty safe to say that no game has ever attempted to place players in the situation of a NEET. That is, until now. The hardworking members of NEET Kabushki Gaisha (or NEET Inc., if you prefer), have created the "Made Because the 30 Year Old NEET Lifestyle is Okay Game" (30-sai NEET ga Jinsei Tsunda no de Tsukutta Game).

According to the official website, this game is modeled after the classic Game of Life. While the game is playable by anybody, it was designed to be oriented towards players between the ages of 10 and 40, who are either NEETs themselves, or are interested in learning more about the NEET lifestyle.

The rules are simple, easy going, and can be picked up easily by anybody playing for the first time. Players take turns going around the board and collecting cards which have different effects. According to the game's description, these effects are the key to victory. The game can be played by two to six players at once, and takes approximately sixty to ninety minutes to complete.

The game is available for purchase online for 3,400 yen (about US $31.19). If you're interested in learning more about the modern NEET community, check out these articles on its current gender distribution or the Akihabara based Rental NEET service.
