Leprechaun: Origins' Lipovsky to Direct Dead Rising Film

posted on by Karen Ressler
Live-action film to premiere on Crackle streaming service

Zach Lipovsky (Leprechaun: Origins, Tasmanian Devils) has signed on to direct Crackle and Legendary Entertainment's live-action film adaptation of CAPCOM's Dead Rising zombie survival-horror video game.

Tim Carter of Contradiction Films (Mortal Kombat: Legacy) wrote the film and is producing it with TO-MAS Harlan and Lorenzo di Bonaventura.

Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune produced the original Xbox 360 game in 2006. The story follows four characters as they attempt to survive a zombie apocalypse while hunting down the source of the infection that is giving rise to the undead.

The 90-minute film will premiere in the U.S. on Crackle, followed by release on streaming video on demand, DVD, video on demand, and television. It will also be released internationally in feature-length and episodic formats.

Thanks to Daniel Zelter for the news tip.
