Miyazaki Illustrates Japanese Cover for Westall's The Call and Other Stories

Acclaimed director previously illustrated Westall's Fathom Five novel
Acclaimed anime director Hayao Miyazaki illustrated the cover of Tokuma Shoten's first Japanese edition of The Call and Other Stories short story collection by British author Robert Atkinson Westall. The book shipped in Japan under the title Mayonaka no Denwa (literally, Midnight Phone Call) on Friday. Miyazaki also contributed a blurb for the new edition's wraparound jacket band: "I love Westall."
Miyazaki previously illustrated the Japanese edition of Westall's World War II children's novel Fathom Five, and drew the multi-page illustrated "A Trip to Tynemouth" essay for the Japanese edition of Westall's Blackham's Wimpey short story collection.
