Alice in Borderland Survival Manga Gets 3 Original Video Volumes

1st OVA to be attached to the 12th volume of Haro Asō's Imawa no Kuni no Alice

This year's 31st issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine is announcing on Wednesday that an original video anime (OVA) inspired by Haro Asō's Imawa no Kuni no Alice (Alice in Borderland) manga has been green-lit. Three episodes of the original video anime are scheduled to be produced, and the anime will be bundled with the limited edition packages of the manga's 12th, 13th, and 14th compiled volumes. The 12th volume of the manga bundled with the first episode of the video anime will ship in Japan on October 17.

The manga revolves around Ryōhei Arisu (pronounced the same way in Japanese as "Alice"), a male high school student who is irritated with his intolerable everyday life. One night, he tags along with his bad friend Karube and Chōbe to hang out in town. However, the town is suddenly covered in giant fireworks, and when he came to his senses, Ryōhei noticed that no one else was around. Finding themselves in a different world, Ryōhei, Karube, and Chōta are forced to participate in survival games, or die off the bat. The three fight to live, as well as find a way back to their own world.

Asō began serializing the manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday S (formerly Shōnen Sunday Chō) in 2010, and he is also writing a series of special stories that are being published in the Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine once a month. Shogakukan shipped the 11th compiled volume of the manga in Japan on June 18.
