25-year old office worker at a loss of what to do after buying snacks in bulk

Sometimes fandom can push a person too far. Hyogo prefectural police arrested office worker Kazuki Fukumoto (age 25) on Tuesday under the suspicion of unlawful dumping of potato chips in Kobe and Akashi City.

According to police, the suspect wanted to collect stamps to win concert tickets in Calbee's Nana Mizuki contest. The suspect allegedly dumped 89 boxes containing 1,000 bags of potato chips each between May 4 and 23. The total weight of the food dumped was approximately 208 kilograms, or nearly 500 pounds.

Fukumoto told police, "I bought in bulk, but I was troubled about what to do with it, so I threw it away."

The contest's application deadline was at the end of May.
