Wandering Son's Shimura Pens Wagamama Chie-chan Manga

Shimura also publishes new one-shot in Yomikiri Citron

Manga creator Takako Shimura announced on Saturday that she will begin a new manga series, alongside her upcoming serialization of her Musume no Iede (Daughter's Running-Away) manga in Shueisha's Jump X magazine.

In Enterbrain's Comic Beam magazine, Shimura will begin a new manga series titled Wagamama Chie-chan (Selfish Chie-chan, the title is tentative). In Libre's Yomikiri Citron magazine, she will pen the one-shot Okite Saisho ni Suru Koto wa (The First Thing to Do When Waking in the Morning). The one-shot is a continuation of the story she wrote about “pitiful siblings” for Libre's Fubin BL anthology. In addition, Shimura wrote that this year will be very busy, as she is also penning the continuation to the Awajima Hyakkei manga.

Shimura is scheduled to start the Musume no Iede in the April issue of Jump X, which will ship in Japan on March 10. The manga is an omnibus of stories of various girls that have run away from home. The first chapter of the manga revolves around a girl who ran away from her mother's home after learning that her mother is remarrying. She finds refuge at her father's home.

Shimura ended her Wandering Son (Hōrō Musuko) and her yuri manga Aoi Hana (Sweet Blue Flowers) manga last year.

Fantagraphics is releasing the Wandering Son manga in North America, and the company published the sixth hardcover volume on January 18.

The manga inspired an 11-episode television anime series from AIC that aired on Fuji TV's late night Noitamina programming block in 2011. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired. Sweet Blue Flowers also inspired an 11-episode anime series that Crunchyroll streamed as it aired in Japan. Right Stuf licensed the series in 2012 and released it on DVD last year.
