Eleven Arts Acquires Distribution Rights for Blue Thermal

Director Masaki Tachibana's Newest Film Based on the Graphic Novel by Kana Ozawa

Los Angeles, CA (November 15th, 2022) – Los Angeles based film distribution and production company, Eleven Arts, announced their acquisition of North American distribution rights for the anime feature film Blue Thermal during their Industry Panel at Anime NYC on Saturday, November 19th.

Blue Thermal is based on the original graphic novel by Kana Ozawa. The graphic novel was originally serialized in Shinchosha's seinen manga magazine Monthly Comic @ Bunch from April 2015 to November 2017, and later published into five volumes. A prequel of the graphic novel was then released by Ozawa titled Blue Thermal: First Flight, which after being serialized online via Line Corporation's Line Manga website from November 2021 and January 2022 was published into five volumes as well.

The film adaptation tells the story of Tamaki Tsuru, who just entered college, proceeds to immediately ding a glider at aviation club tryouts, ending up having to work it off. However, when Kuramochi, the club leader and glider pilot, takes Tamaki on her first flight, she falls in love with flying. The film was produced by Telecom Animation Film (Lupin III, Orange). Masaki Tachibana (Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, Princess Principal) directed the film, as well as wrote the script alongside Natsuko Takahashi (Bleach, Farewell, My Dear Cramer). Piano rock band SHE'S performs the film's theme song “Blue Thermal” and the insert song “Beautiful Bird”. Starring an amazing cast, Blue Thermal is an inspirational slice-of-life that will you take you through the experiences of Tamaki as she discovers what is most important to her.

Blue Thermal will have its North American Premiere at Anime Frontier in December.

Eleven Arts will announce more information on the premiere and further details about the film at a later date.
