Hugtto! Precure Anime Film Sets Guinness World Record for 'Most Magical Warriors in an Anime Film'

Film with 55 Precures opened in Japan on Saturday

The Eiga Hugtto! Precure ♡ Futari wa Precure All Stars Memories crossover film opened in Japan on Saturday, and already it's setting records. The film features 55 Precures, and has now earned the Guinness World Record for "Most magical warriors in an anime film." The staff revealed the award at a stage greeting event at Tokyo's Shinjuku Wald 9 theater on Saturday. The award certificate will be on display there until November 7.

The film, with a theme of "memories," marks a revival of the "All Stars" film series, and also commemorates the overall franchise's 15th anniversary. The previous film in the "All Stars" series, Eiga Precure All Stars: Minna de Utau Kiseki no Mahō!, opened in Japan in March 2016. Crossover films after that were titled Eiga Precure Dream Stars! and Precure Super Stars!.

Hugtto! Precure, the latest television anime series in the franchise, premiered on February 4. The original Futari wa Precure series ran from 2004 to 2005.

Futari wa Precure is streaming with English subtitles on Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Tubi TV. Saban Brands localized two other Precure series — Smile Precure! and Dokidoki! Precure — under the titles Glitter Force and Glitter Force Doki Doki and released them on Netflix.

The Japan Patent Office reported a filing for "Star Twinkle Precure" earlier this month.
