Dropkick on My Devil's Pekora Transforms Into Virtual YouTuber

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The staff for the anime adaptation of Yukiwo's Dropkick on My Devil! anime series were forthright with viewers. In a uniquely transparent move, they told fans that if viewers purchased at least 2,000 copies of the anime series box sets the staff would produce a second season. The decision seems to be working so far as sales have hit the halfway point. The official YouTube channel began streaming a new video on Monday celebrating the milestone and made further announcements about upcoming events—including character Pekora's turn as a virtual YouTuber.

Pekora is a chronically starving fallen angel voiced by Yurie Kozakai, a relative newcomer to the anime industry. Pekora will make her virtual YouTuber debut on the Jashin Channel V program on niconico on November 9. Pekora will appear in the "Pekora Descent Festival" segment of the video.

A Dropkick on My Devil! event, "The Final: Sugoi Sabbath 2019," is scheduled for January 20, 2019 at the Otemachi Sankei Plaza in Tokyo. The above video lists the performers and song line-up planned for the event which includes most of series' cast.

The anime premiered on July 9. The anime is streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime Video inside and outside of Japan. Amazon Prime Video premiered the final bonus episode on October 1.

Hikaru Sato (Chronicles of the Going Home Club) directed the series at Nomad (Chronicles of the Going Home Club, School-Live!). Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Tantei Opera Milky Holmes, Is the order a rabbit?) oversaw the series scripts, and also wrote the scripts alongside Momoko Murakami (Muromi-san, Mahou Shoujo Nante Mouiidesukara.). Makoto Koga (Aria the Animation, Blessing of the Campanella) served as both character designer and chief animation director, and Yuki Kurihara and Yuzuru Jinma composed the music. Kouichirou Natsume (Naruto Shippūden the Movie: Bonds, anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day film) was the executive producer.

The original comedy manga by Yukiwo centers on Yurine Hanazono, a college student who summons Jashin-chan, a demon from the underworld. Now they must live together in a run-down apartment in Tokyo's Jinbōchō district. If Yurine dies, Jashin-chan gets to go back to the underworld, so she constantly plots to kill Yurine.
