Trigger Reveals More Details on Promare Anime

Protagonist is rescue team member Galo; anime includes mechs named "Matoi-Tech"

Anime News Network's coverage of Anime Expo 2018 is sponsored by Yen Press.

Studio Trigger revealed more details for Promare, its upcoming original anime collaboration with XFlag (Monster Strike), during its panel at Anime Expo on Friday.

The anime's protagonist is named Galo (seen below), who is a new recruit in a rescue team.

The anime will have mechs called "Matoi-Tech," named after the "matoi" banners that Edo-period firefighting units used.

Trigger confirmed that Shigeto Koyama is in charge of character design and mechanical design, and Sushio (Kill la Kill) is involved as an animator in the project.

Trigger and XFlag will reveal more information about the anime this fall.

Director Hiroyuki Imaishi and scriptwriter Kazuki Nakashima are teaming again for the new project, which the staff mentioned will be similar in tone to Kill la Kill and Gurren Lagann — Imaishi and Nakashima's previous two collaborations.

Studio Trigger first announced the project at Anime Expo last year, along with DARLING in the FRANKXX and SSSS.Gridman. At the time, the staff shared a visual illustrated by Shigeto Koyama.
